Highway Maintenance
Highway Maintenance
Cyclic highway maintenance is an integral part of highway management, not only does it keep the road sides looking neat and tidy, it also allows the safe repair of highways and increases the safety for road users.
Utilising out team of NRSWA, NPTC, LANTRA & CITB qualified staff and an arsenal of bespoke equipment, we are able to safely and efficiently provide a range of highway services, listed below.
Verge Mowing
Our tractors are fitted with Votex flail cutters, these are belt driven instead of the traditional hydraulic allowing them to cut at higher travelling speeds meaning we can provide a high quality cut more efficiently. All of our tractors are fitted with high visibility chevrons and flashing lights allowing them to work on all classes of road.
Urban Grass Cutting (Towns & Villages)
In addition to the larger tractors, we also have a fleet of smaller ride-on grass cutters which are more suited to the verges in villages and towns. These machines are able to provide a cut of around 45mm, ensuring that the grass is left looking neat and tidy. The grass cuttings are left in situ and are cut to a fine mulch which will enrich the soil and keep the grass looking good all year round.
Weed Spraying
Weeds are ugly, we all know that but they also damage road and footpath surfaces, spraying them off when they are small will stop them from growing and prevent their root system damaging the sub surface. We use quad mounted, low pressure spraying systems to spray glyphosate based weed killer on to weeds along the kerb line of the roads and the edges of foot paths. Our quads enable our teams to spray large areas quickly and efficiently, covering up to 40 kilometers per operative in an 8 hour shift. Of course, we have the hand held sprayers for hard to reach areas, ensuring no weed is left unsprayed.
